JOB SUMMARY

The successful candidate will be responsible to provide library and information services to Members of Parliament, staff, and others.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Proactive and reactive provision of information services.
  • Provision of specialized information services.
  • Acquisition of print and electronic library resources.
  • Collection, processing, and indexing. Collection, development, and maintenance.
  • User education and library promotion.
  • Planning and administration.
  • Project management.

To qualify, you must have:

  • Honours degree in Library Sciences with 2 years relevant experience.

You must also demonstrate:

  • Expert knowledge of the content information resources.
  • Ability to conduct reference interviews.
  • Knowledge of rare and specialised information resources.
  • Library web 2 skills.
  • Training and presentation skills.
  • Webcasting skills.
  • Knowledge of Anglo-American cataloguing rules.
  • Knowledge of Dewey decimal classification system skills.
  • Advanced computer literacy.
  • Interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under sustained pressure.
  • Willingness to work flexible and extraordinary hours when required.
  • Ability to work in a team.
