Parliament, Monday, 25 March 2024 – The Powers and Privileges Committee has adopted its draft report into allegations of conduct constituting contempt of Parliament by members of the National Assembly (NA) who disrupted President Cyril Ramaphosa’s Budget Vote speech on 9 and 10 June 2022. The committee will submit the report to the NA for its consideration.

The 10 members were charged for their various roles constituting contempt of Parliament in terms of section 13 (c) of the Powers, Privileges and Immunities of Parliament and Provincial Legislatures Act. Some of the members were charged for both days.

The members charged on 9 June were:

  • Ms E N Ntlangwini
  • Ms B Mathulelwa
  • Ms W T I Mafanya
  • Mr A Matumba

The members charged on the 10 June 2022 were:

  • Hon P Marais
  • Hon N N Chirwa
  • Hon S Tambo
  • Hon B Mathulelwa
  • Hon N Tafeni
  • Hon M K Montwedi
  • Hon E N Ntlangwini
  • Hon Y N Yako
  • Hon A Matumba

The committee will table the report in the National Assembly for consideration by the House.
