Parliament, Monday, 11 March 2024 – Deputy President Paul Mashatile will appear before Permanent Delegates to the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) in a hybrid plenary sitting to answer Questions for Oral Reply tomorrow (Tuesday, 12 March), at 14:00.

As stipulated in Section 92(2) of the Constitution, scheduling of regular quarterly question-and-answer sessions is one of the mechanisms that Parliament uses to hold the executive to account collectively and individually.

The Deputy President’s oral replies to the NCOP permanent delegates will cover a range of issues of national and international importance and other government service delivery-related matters. Plans to address youth unemployment, the skills crisis and water interruptions are among the questions Mr Mashatile will answer,

Meanwhile, also tomorrow at 14:00, the National Assembly (NA) will consider several committee reports on bills before the House, including:

1. The report of the Portfolio Committee (PC) on Home Affairs on the Electoral Matters Amendment Bill.

2. Report of the PC on Justice and Correctional Services on various matters.

3. The decision of question on numerous committee reports debated during the NA virtual mini-plenary sessions last Thursday.

During the same sitting, the House will commemorate International Women’s Day with a debate under the theme: “Invest in women – Accelerate progress in the context of building a better Africa and the world.”
