Parliament, Monday, 14 August 2017 – The Portfolio Committee on Water and Sanitation will undertake a weeklong oversight visit to Limpopo to assess progress in implementation of interventions related to water provision in the province.

The Committee will focus its oversight on investigating water supply challenges in Tzaneen as well as investigate the extent of water allocation reform to emerging black farmers in the area. The Committee will also assess challenges in respect to access to water as well as water shortages in Giyani, as well as assess interventions made by the department.

Furthermore, the Portfolio Committee will use this visit to do a follow up on recommended interventions made following a meeting with residents from the 32 villages affected by resettlement of the Nandoni Dam.  The Committee intends to hold meetings with representatives from the affected villages in order to ascertain the extent of implementation by the Department. The Committee visited the area in November 2015.
