Parliament, Thursday, 7 March 2019 – The Portfolio Committee on Sport and Recreation has congratulated Netball South Africa for successfully bidding for the 2023 Netball World Cup.

The Chairperson of the committee, Ms Beauty Dlulane, said the confidence the international community continues to show on South Africa is something to marvel.

“The tournament will be a spectacle and is further evidence of the need to financially support women’s sports. We are grateful to the International Netball Federation, and even more grateful that this gives us an opportunity to grow women’s involvement in sport.”

South Africa was announced as the host nation for the 16th Netball World Cup in 2023. The tournament will be played in Cape Town. “Without a doubt we will host this spectacle and South Africa is capable and ready to welcome the world,” Ms Dlulane said.
