Parliament, Wednesday, 16 August 2017 – The Portfolio Committee on Small Business Development will today (16 August 2017) focus its oversight visit on small, macro and medium enterprises (SMMEs) as well as cooperatives in the Thabo Mofutsanyana District Municipality, Free State. 

Since arriving in the province on Monday, the Committee has visited thirteen SMMEs and cooperatives in Xhariep District and Mangaung Metropolitan Municipalities alone.

Today, it will visit the Maqheleng Waste Management cooperative in Ficksburg as well as Zolu Tranding and Menze Steal Works in Phuthaditjhaba.

 The purpose of the visit is to look into the SMMEs’ and cooperatives’ level of development, challenges encountered and possible interventions required.
