Parliament, Wednesday, 29 March 2017  The Standing Committee on Public Accounts (Scopa) is satisfied with the presentation made by the South African Post Office (Sapo) on its state of readiness for the disbursement of social grants.

Scopa visited Sapo today to determine whether the engagements it has been having with the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) on the disbursement of grants has resulted in any concrete plans. Scopa is satisfied with the manner in which the Post Office articulated its capacity and state of readiness for disbursing social grants if it is given the opportunity.

Scopa also welcomes the assurance given by the Chief Executive Officer of Sassa, Mr Thokozani Magwaza, on the preparations and plans the agency is making to ensure that after the 12-month period Cash Paymaster Services was given by the Constitutional Court to continue with the disbursement of social grants, the country will not face another crisis and that vulnerable people of this country will not face uncertainty again when it comes to their livelihood.
