Parliament, Tuesday, 20 October 2020 – The Portfolio Committee on Public Service and Administration (PSA; Sub-committee) today shortlisted candidates for interviews for the post of Public Service Commissioner at the Public Service Commission board.

The committee advertised the position in September 2020 and received 151 applications from people across South Africa. The committee then shortlisted 19 candidates from these applications, taking into account gender representivity. The shortlisted candidates are:

  8. Dr Mzamo Ngwadi
  9. Ms Mosing Mpho
  10. Ms Nqumbela Okuhle Ndedwa
  11. Ms Mabitsela Stella Martha
  12. Dr Fisher Hilton
  13. Mr Maharajh Avinash Bhanpersad
  14. Ms Maropefela Kaelo
  15. Dr Munyai Fhumulani
  16. Mr Khanyeza Bafo Thomas
  17. Mr Mashibini Patrick Moeketsi
  18. Dr Somadoda Fikeni
  19. Ms Mdletshe Zama Phindile

Although the Constitution and the Public Service Commission Act of 1997 does not prescribe required qualifications, the committee has shortlisted qualified and experienced candidates. This is because the PSC is a knowledge-based organisation producing information that contributes to a participatory and developmental public service.
