Parliament, Wednesday, 14 February 2018 – The Portfolio Committee on Police welcomes the progress by the Directorate of Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI) in relations the investigations into the Vrede Farm matter.

The concerted efforts to investigate the misuse of state-allocated funds is part of the core mandate of the DPCI, and the Committee welcomes these breakthroughs.

The Committee has always reiterated its call for intensified implementation of the Directorate of Priority Crime Investigation mandate. “The intensified fight against corruption adds impetus to the National Development Plan’s vision of a prosperous South Africa that is safe and has the ability to create job opportunities to its citizenry,” said Mr Francois Beukman, the Chairperson of the Committee.

The DPCI will be invited to brief the Portfolio Committee on this matter.
