Parliament, Tuesday, 23 May 2017 – The Select Committee on Petitions and Executive Undertakings will tomorrow (Wednesday, 24 May 2017) continue with hearings on a petition containing allegations of maladministration and corruption against the Knysna local municipality.

The petition, which is dubbed Love Knysna petition, was submitted by Mr Mike Hampton in 2015 and was first heard by the Committee on 10 February 2016 and 16 March 2016.

Following the hearings on the petition, the Committee held a meeting on 6 April 2016 to consider a draft report in this regard. During that meeting, the Committee suggested a number of amendments to the report and further resolved that it would only be in a position to finalise its report on the petition after it had received and taken into consideration the outcome of the investigations by the Provincial Treasury and the Office of the Public Protector on the complaints referred to them by the petitioner.

Details of the hearings are as follows:

Time:     08h30
Venue:   Committee Room S26, First Floor, NCOP
Date:    Wednesday, 24 May 2017
