Sunday, 13 August 2017 – There are 38 committee meetings scheduled for the week, including public hearings on bills and reports from government departments and entities. There are also seven oversight visits scheduled to take place in six provinces.

In addition, a two-day conference is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday of the African Network of Parliamentary Budget Offices. The conference is being hosted by the Parliament of the RSA’s Parliamentary Budget Office.

Oversight visits this week are the following:

A joint oversight visit of the Select Committees on Trade and International Relations and Economic and Business Development to the West Coast District Municipality in the Western Cape to assess sectors and industries in the area (contact Sibongile Maputi on 061 413 2506)

The Select Committees on Social Services and Education and Recreation visit to Northern Cape to assess the state of health services centres and tertiary education institutions (contact Malatswa Molepo on 081 512 7920)

Portfolio Committee on Environmental Affairs public hearings on the Marine Spatial Planning Bill in KwaZulu-Natal and Northern Cape (contact Faith Kwaza on 081 377 0686)

  • Portfolio Committee on Human Settlements visit to North West to assess delivery and quality of housing projects in the province. There will also be a public meeting to assess communities’ views about the quality of houses and progress of human settlements’ provision in the province (contact Temba Gubula on 081 402 3531 or 078 735 8809)
  • Select Committee on Communications and Public Enterprises visit to the South African Broadcasting Corporation, Eskom and Broadband Infraco in Gauteng
  • Portfolio Committee on Small Business Development visit to enterprises supported by the department in five District Municipalities in the Free State (Xhariep, Mangaung, Thabo Mofutsanyana, Lejweleputsa and Fezile Dabi)
