Parliament, Friday, 11 August 2017 – The Portfolio Committee on Human Settlements will next week, 14 to 18 August 2017, visit the North West province to assess quality and progress of housing delivery in the province.

The Committee will visit three districts, namely Bojanala, Dr Kenneth Kaunda and Ngaka Modiri Molema, where it will assess the quality of housing projects in these areas. There will also be public meetings to assess communities’ views about the quality of houses and progress of human settlements provision in the province.

Committee Chairperson Ms Nocawe Mafu says the visit will focus on the implementation of comprehensive human settlements plans and programmes, an integrated human settlements strategy in the province, and title deeds.

The visit will start with a briefing from the Human Settlements MEC in the province and the National Department of Human Settlements on Monday, 14 August, in Mafikeng, and be followed by site visits to projects in the area. On Tuesday, 15 August, the Committee will be inspecting housing projects in the area of Matlosana. On Wednesday, 16 August, the Committee will be visiting projects in Moses Kotane municipality. On Thursday and Friday, the Committee will be in Rustenburg and Madibeng municipalities.
