Parliament, Monday, 2 October 2017 – The Portfolio Committee on Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries will this week commence with public hearings on the National Forests Amendment Bill which seeks to provide special measures for the protection of certain forests and trees, and promote the sustainable use of forests for environmental, economical, educational, recreational, cultural, health and spiritual purposes. The Bill also seeks to promote the sustainable management and development of forests for the benefit of all.

Public hearings will be held at the following venues from 10h00 to 16h00

Tuesday – 3 October 2017 at O.R Tambo Hall in Mthatha, Eastern Cape
Thursday - 5 October 2017 at Harding Hall, Harding, KwaZulu-Natal
Friday – 6 October 2017 at Kranskop Farmers Hall, Kranskop, KwaZulu-Natal.

Members of the media are invited to attend the public hearings.
