Parliament, Tuesday, 05 March 2019 – The Portfolio Committee on Police will tomorrow receive a briefing from the Minister of Police, Minister Bheki Cele, on the appointment of the Independent Police Investigative Directorate’s (Ipid’s) current chief financial officer as Ipid’s acting executive director for the next three months.

The committee requested the Minister to provide a briefing on the appointment, including the acting director’s curriculum vitae and career history. The committee will also receive a short briefing from the acting executive director on his immediate plans and priorities for the department.

The committee will also receive a briefing from the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation on high-profile cases and a progress report on the establishment of specialised units.
