Parliament, Wednesday, 24 May 2023 – Due to logistical challenges and the need to give the Department of Water and Sanitation and the City of Tshwane space to investigate and halt the current cholera outbreak, the Portfolio Committee on Water and Sanitation’s visit to Hammanskraal has been deferred. The committee views its oversight role as important to ensure accountability, but also appreciates the need to give the executive space to find solutions as critical.
The committee will in due course visit Hammanskraal but what is important at this juncture is the preservation of life and containment of the outbreak.
