Parliament, Sunday, 2 May 2021 – The Standing Committee on Public Accounts (Scopa) will this week visit Eastern Cape municipalities.

The municipalities that the committee is going to visit include, Buffalo City and Nelson Mandela Bay metropolitan municipalities, Amathole District Municipality as well as OR Tambo, Enoch Mgijima and Makana local municipalities.

The committee will also meet with the Provincial MEC of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs on the status of municipalities in the province.

The aim of the oversight visit is to follow up on the Auditor-General’s audit outcome for the 2018/19 financial year and look at investigations that are being conducted including the Special Investigations Unit report.

The committee will also check consequence management measures that have been applied and whether there is sound financial management and accounting at these municipalities.

Date: Thursday, 6 May 2021 – Meeting with Municipal Managers, Mayors, Speaker and Administrator of Makana and Nelson Mandela Bay municipalities
