Parliament, Saturday, 4 February 2023 – The Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Mineral Resources and Energy, Mr Sahlulele Luzipo, will tomorrow, 5 February 2023, handover a committee report to the families of three Lilly mine workers who were trapped underground in 2016.
The handover will take place during the commemoration of the seventh anniversary since Yvonne Mnisi, Pretty Nkambule and Solomon Nyerende were trapped underground inside a metal structure when the mine collapsed.
The committee has conducted oversight visits to Lilly mine since the accident occurred. In all the visits, the committee made observations and deliberated on a number of recommendations contained in the report that will be handed over to the families of the three mine workers.
