Parliament, Wednesday, 01 February 2023 – The Portfolio Committee on Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities will today (Wednesday, 1 February 2023) visit the National Youth Development Agency offices and projects of the National Youth Development Agency in the eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality.
The visits are part of the committee’s week-long oversight visit programme in KwaZulu-Natal and which was kick-started yesterday by inspection of the temporary emergency accommodation that was provided to the April flood victims in KwaZulu-Natal.
The committee received briefings today from the Department of Human Settlements, the Department of Women Youth and Persons with Disabilities, the Premier’s Office on, among other things, provision of houses to the floods victims. It also received a briefing from eThekwini members of the gender-based violence rapid response team on the state of gender-based-violence in the province.
