Parliament, Wednesday 31 May 2023 – President Cyril Ramaphosa will tomorrow afternoon reply to the debate on the Presidency budget vote in the National Assembly.

The National Assembly is also scheduled to convene its weekly Programming Committee Meeting to plan for the business of the House. The meeting is fully physical and will consider, among other things, the draft programme of the National Assembly, committee reports, and Bills before the House.

The National Council of Provinces at its plenary sitting will consider the Land Court Bill. The NA passed the  Bill in September last year and sent it to the NCOP for concurrence. The purpose of the Bill is to provide for the establishment of a Land Court and a Land Court of Appeal, make provision for the administration and judicial functions of the Land Court and Land Court of Appeal, make provision for budgetary matters and to provide for the exclusive jurisdiction of the Land Court and Land Court of Appeal for certain matters. The Bill further provides for mediation and arbitration procedures and amends certain laws relating to the adjudication of land matters by other courts.

The Council will conclude its business of the day with policy debates on budget vote 22 (Correctional Services) and policy debate on budget vote 25 (Justice and Constitutional Development).
