Parliament, Wednesday 10 August 2022 – The National Council of Provinces (NCOP) will hold a Ministerial Briefing session tomorrow, Thursday 11 August, under the theme: "Measures to Wage a Concerted Battle Against Illegal Mining and the Manifestation of Criminality and Violence in the affected Communities."

The Ministerial Briefing session from 10:00 – 15:00 tomorrow will discuss the recent illegal mining activities and the unprecedented high levels of criminality and violence in the mining communities.

Relevant Ministers, such as the Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Mr Gwende Mantashe, Police, Mr Bheki Cele, Home Affairs, Mr Aron Motswaledi, will brief Permanent Delegates to the NCOP on measures to wage a concerted battle against illegal mining and restore law and order in the affected communities.
