Parliament, Wednesday 11 MAY August 2022 – Deputy President David Mabuza will appear before the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) in a hybrid plenary tomorrow (12 May 2022) to answer questions for oral reply.

Holding regular question and answer sessions is one way in which Parliament, as provided by section 92(2) of the Constitution, holds the Executive to account.

Up to six questions about matters of national or international importance may be asked during the three-hour session. The six questions scheduled for tomorrow’s sitting cover a range of matters, including:

  • Plans to trouble-shoot disruptions of services in flood-affected areas in KZN,
  • Compliance with Gauteng High Court order regarding the Maluti-a-Phofung Council,
  • Has Government considered the negative impact of bureaucratic red tape in stimulating/supporting rural/township economy,
  • Measures in place to ensure that members of the Executive are accountable to the Deputy President for answering parliamentary questions from Members of Parliament in a timely, comprehensive and correct manner,
  • When will he take action against the Sol Plaatje Municipality for allegedly “damaging the economy by obstructing the manganese trucks’ thoroughfare and the
  • Whether Government is making any progress in correcting design defects at power stations
