Parliament, Tuesday 24 August 2021 – The National Council of Provinces (NCOP) will tomorrow hold a debate on the recent public violence, looting and destruction of property in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng. The debate will be held under the theme: “Peace, stability and rebuilding beyond the public violence, looting and destruction of property”.

Meanwhile, National Assembly will tomorrow during its hybrid sitting, consider a report of the Portfolio Committee on Social Development on the impact of the civil unrest in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng. The committee visited the two provinces recently focusing on the Department of Social Development’s response for urgent food relief to the affected communities. The House will also consider the reports of the Portfolio Committee on Basic Education, the Portfolio Committee on Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development and the Portfolio Committee on Environment, Forestry and Fisheries.
