Parliament, Thursday, 03 August 2017 – The Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces (NCOP), Ms Thandi Modise, will on Friday, 04 August 2017, hand over much needed supplies, including sanitary pads, stationary and winter warmers, to learners from the Dominican School for Deaf Children in Wynberg, Cape Town.

The event forms part of Mandela Month and is organised by the Office of the Chairperson, who collectively contributed towards the needs of the children in the true spirit of Nelson Mandela.

The donation is made in acknowledgment that Mandela Day is a continuous process that seeks to celebrate the life and legacy of our former President in a sustainable way to bring about enduring change.

Mandela Day 2017 calls for “Action against Poverty” and, in response, the Chairperson notes that to honour Madiba we must collectively devote ourselves to fighting poverty and promoting social justice for all people.
