Parliament, Sunday 15 May 2022 – The National Council of Provinces’ (NCOP) consideration of the Division of Revenue Bill, a series of mini plenaries, policy debates on Budget Votes and the National Assembly (NA) Programming Committee meeting are some of the items on the Parliamentary programme this week.

Tuesday’s NCOP plenary, at 2pm, will sit to consider three crucial Bills – the Division of Revenue Bill, the Employment Equity Amendment Bill and the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Amendment Bill.

On the same day, the NA will hold four virtual mini plenaries on Vote 4: Government Communications and Information Systems (at 10am), Vote 35: Science and Innovation and Vote 25: Justice and Constitutional Development (both at 2pm) and Vote 3& 15: Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (at 4.30pm).

On Wednesday afternoon, delegates to the NCOP will engage in a Policy debate on Budget Vote 41: Water and Sanitation whilst the NA will continue with virtual mini plenaries. The two mini plenaries scheduled in the NA are for Vote 40: Transport, Vote 32: Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment and Vote 8: National Treasury (all at 2pm) and Vote 30: Communications and Digital Technologies at 4.30pm.

The NA’s Programming Committee meeting is scheduled to kick off Thursday’s events at 8.30am followed by a virtual plenary of the NCOP at 2pm for a Policy debate on Budget Vote 40: Transport and two virtual NA mini plenaries on Vote 38: Tourism and Vote: 34 Mineral Resources and Energy (from 2pm) and Vote 16: Basic Education, Vote 22: Correctional Services and Vote 20: Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities (from 4.30pm).

On Friday morning the virtual NA mini plenary will consider Vote 39: Trade and Industry, Vote 9: Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation and Vote 10: Public Enterprises from 10am The NCOP, on the other hand, will use Friday to host a Women’s Charter Report Back Session with the leadership of the Gauteng Province.
