Thursday, 18 May 2017- On Friday, week one of Parliament’s budget vote programme draws to a close with debates on the budgets of Rural Development and Land Reform (Vote 39) and Energy (Vote 26).

The debates are from 10.00 to about 12.00 in two separate mini plenary sittings of the National Assembly.

Several committee meetings are also scheduled for tomorrow morning. These include a meeting of the Standing Committee on Appropriations to hear comment from the Parliamentary Budget Office on the 2017 Appropriations Bill. The meeting is scheduled to start at 8.30. The 2017 Appropriations Bill is provisionally scheduled for consideration by the National Assembly on 8 June.

The Portfolio Committee on Social Development meeting at 10.00 is scheduled to consider the annual performance plan of the South African Social Security Agency with the addendum.

The Portfolio Committee on Trade and Industry is also scheduled to meet tomorrow to consider a candidate for the position of Chairperson of the Board of the National Lotteries Commission.
