Parliament, Tuesday, 5 November 2019 – The Standing and Select Committees on Finance will tomorrow, 6 November 2019, hold a joint public hearing on the 2019 Revised Fiscal Framework and Revenue Proposals, also known as the Medium Term Budget Policy Statement (MTBPS).

The MTBPS was tabled in the National Assembly on 30 October 2019 by the Minister of Finance, Mr Tito Mboweni, in terms of section 28 of the Public Management Act 1 of 1999 and section 6 (1) of the Money Bills Amendment Procedure and Related Matters Act 9 of 2019.

Prior to that, the committee Chairpersons Mr Joe Maswanganyi and Mr Yunus Carrim, had invited stakeholders and other interested parties to forward written submissions to the two committees.

They further advised those making written submissions to indicate their interest to make oral presentation in tomorrow’s public hearing. A number of stakeholders responded, including, among others, British American Tobacco, Budget Justice Coalition, Congress of South African Trade Unions, Pietermaritzburg Pensioners Association and Rural Health Advocacy Project.
