Parliament, Wednesday, 7 November 2018 – Mr Floyd Shivambu, EFF member of the Standing Committee on Finance, questioned whether the Chairperson of committee, Mr Yunus Carrim, who serves on the Central Committee and Politburo of the South African Communist Party (SACP), has a conflict of interest in chairing the sitting of today’s committee meeting on Adv Terry Motau’s report on VBS Mutual, “The Great Bank Heist.”

Mr Carrim categorically denied that he is conflicted and explained that he knows absolutely nothing about the alleged donation to the SACP and that he was informed by the party’s office bearers that the SACP received no such donation.

Mr Shivambu’s letter and Mr Carrim’s reply are attached.
