Parliament, Thursday, 23 March 2023 – Deputy President Paul Mashatile will appear before the National Assembly (NA) in a hybrid plenary sitting this afternoon at 2pm to answer questions for oral reply from Members of Parliament.

This will be Deputy President Mashatile’s first question and answer session in Parliament since his appointment, as part of the mechanisms utilised by the national legislature to hold the Executive to account as provided for by section 92(2) of the Constitution.

Also, the same sitting will consider several committee reports that include:

  • Report of the Standing Committee on Appropriations on Division of Revenue Bill [B2 – 2023]
  • Report of Standing Committee on Appropriations on Second Adjustment Appropriations (2022/23 Financial year
  • Decision of the question on the draft Resolution on: Establishment of an Ad Hoc Committee in terms of Rule 253 to inquire into the full extent of the alleged widespread corruption and unabated operations of criminal networks and cartels at Eskom

Meanwhile, during its hybrid plenary session at 2 pm, the NCOP will consider the Motions of Notices and hold a debate on “Taking Parliament to the People,” which is the NCOP’s annual flagship event that was held in KwaZulu-Natal Province from 14 – 18 November 2022 at Ugu District Municipality.

At the same sitting, the House will also hold a debate on Water Infrastructure Investment, under the theme: “Building viable water Infrastructure for Sustainable and Reliable Water to Communities.”
