Parliament, Wednesday 6 November 2019 – Deputy President David Mabuza will be in the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) on Thursday, 7 November for oral replies to questions by the NCOP permanent delegates.

Some of the six (6) questions to be answered by the Deputy President include:
Whether the government has put any critical asset maintenance strategies in place at Eskom to ensure grid reliability for viable electricity supply and asset lifetime; whether the Deputy President had any discussions with the Department of Human Settlements, Water and Sanitation to address the sewage situation in Emfuleni; and whether the government has prioritized certain provinces as part of its interventions to stimulate and support rural and township economies through implementing empowerment models.

Section 92(2) of the Constitution mandates Cabinet Members to be accountable to Parliament for the exercise of powers and performance of their functions. In accordance with the Constitution, Parliament is using this opportunity to hold the Executive accountable.
