Wednesday, 23 August 2017 – Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa will on Friday, 25 August 2017, address a formal sitting of the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) at the Kaiser Sebothelo Sports Arena in Botshabelo.

The address concludes the week long NCOP Taking Parliament to the People programme which is currently underway in the Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality – started on Monday, 21 August 2017.

The programme, held under the theme “Celebrating 20 Years of the Constitution and the NCOP - Deepening Parliamentary Oversight for quality services to our people,” is a platform for the public to hold their leaders accountable on issues raised through public hearings. Initiated in 2002, the programme enables the NCOP to exercise its constitutional obligation of overseeing government programmes and policies. The programme also gives ordinary citizens an opportunity to engage their elected public representatives face-to-face on issues affecting them.

In the spirit of cooperative governance the programme brings together all three spheres of government under one roof, to account to the electorate for their service delivery promises.
