Parliament, Thursday, 4 May 2020 – The Portfolio Committee on Communications, having received a resignation letter of one of the current Icasa (Independent Communications Authority of South Africa) councillors from the Acting Minister of Communication and Digital Technologies, has added two more candidates on the eight recommended names to fill six vacancies on the Icasa Council. All the 10 names were recommended unanimously by all the political parties represented in the committee.

The committee subsequently adopted a report that will be tabled in the National Assembly (NA) for adoption, and it contains a list of recommended names in the order of priority. They are Dr Keabetswe Modimoeng, Ms Yolisa Kedama, Ms Zolani Kgosietsile Matthews, Mr Peter Zimri, Adv Luthando Mkutumela. Dr Charles Lewis, Ms Amanda Cuba, Ms Sandisiwe Ncemane, Ms Dikeledi Mushi and Mr Ashraf Patel.

Once adopted by the NA, the names will then be forwarded to the Minister of Communication and Digital Technologies for appointment.
