Parliament, Monday, 18 March 2019 – The Standing Committees on Finance; and Public Accounts – together with Portfolio Committees on Trade and Industry; and Public Service and Administration, will tomorrow (19 March 2019) be briefed on the progress with regard to the Steinhoff issues.

At long last, Steinhoff has released its internal PricewaterhouseCoopers report on the company’s transgressions and the committees are keen to engage with Steinhoff about the report.

The main aim of the meeting is to establish from the Hawks, the National Prosecuting Authority and the relevant regulatory bodies what progress these institutions have made in acting against those accused of wrongdoing since the committees’ last meeting in September last year.

The Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Finance, Mr Yunus Carrim, said: “This is after all the biggest corporate scandal the country has ever faced and we want to see decisive action. Not words of action, but action!”

Those reporting to the committees will include the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, the Companies and Intellectual Properties Commission, the Financial Services Conduct Authority and the Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors.

Details of the meeting are as follows:
