Parliament, Thursday, 17 August 2017 – Parliament’s Joint Committee on Ethics and Members’ Interests has set a closing date for all Members of Parliament (MPs) to disclose their interests.

The Committee, at its meeting earlier this week and acting in accordance with Clause 9.2.3 of the Code of Ethical Conduct and Disclosure of Members’ Interests, has set Friday, 29 September 2017 as the last day for disclosure of Members’ interests for 2017.

According to the Committee, Clause 9.2.1 of the Code of Ethical Conduct and Disclosure of Members’ Interests obliges MPs to disclose to the Registrar of Members’ Interests, on the form prescribed by the Joint Committee on Ethics and Members’ Interests, particulars of all registrable interests. In terms of Clause 9.2.3 of the Code of Ethical Conduct, Members are required, after the first disclosure in terms of Clause 9.2.2, to disclose their interests annually at a time determined by the Joint Committee on Ethics and Members’ Interests.
