Parliament, Saturday, 19 May 2018 – The Portfolio Committee on Arts and Culture is saddened to hear about the passing of local jazz musician, Philip Tabane.

Dr Tabane, who held an honorary Doctorate in music, passed away in a Mamelodi hospital in Pretoria yesterday.

Chairperson of the Committee, Ms Xoliswa Tom said: “It is sad to know that the arts industry has lost another of its legendary musicians, whose music will not only continue to entertain but inspire and bring comfort”.

The committee extends its heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Dr Tabane.
