Parliament, Friday, 26 July 2019 – The Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Health, Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo, has welcomed the signing of the Presidential Health Compact. “The Health Compact is a commitment by government to deliver better healthcare services to all South Africans,” said Dr Dhlomo.

The Health Compact was signed by the President during an event attended by the Minister of Health, Dr Zweli Mkhize, the Deputy Minister of the Department of Health, MECs for Health, including private health entities, stakeholders, traditional healers and research organisations at the Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital’s Nursing College in Ga-Rankuwa.

“The healthcare sector needs a lot of support to build capacity so as to provide efficient healthcare services, and this can be done by ensuring more healthcare workers and better resources,” added Dr Dhlomo.
