Parliament, Friday, 17 March 2017 – The Ad Hoc Committee in the Filling of Vacancies in the Commission for Gender Equality met to recommend suitable candidates to be appointed as Commissioners in the Gender Commission.

The shortlisted candidates underwent a rigorous process of interviews, verification of qualifications and screening.

The criteria used by the Committee to select the candidates during the interview process included motivation, technical knowledge, strategic leadership, team work, innovation and governance.

Therefore, the Committee in nominating candidates for appointment as Commissioners in the Commission for Gender Equality, recommended the following candidates, in this order of preference:

  1. Ms Tamara Euginia Mathebula
  2. Ms Nthabiseng Moleko
  3. Mr Sediko Daniel Rakolote
  4. Ms Nthabiseng Sepanya Mogale
  5. Ms Sethembiso Promise Mthembu
  6. Dr Praveena Sukhraj-Ely

 

The candidates recommended by the Committee will be tabled to the National Assembly. Subsequently the list will be sent to the President for consideration of appointment in accordance with the Constitution and the Commission for Gender Equality Act.
