Have Your Say: National Land Transport Amendment Bill [B 7 – 2016]

The Portfolio Committee on Transport invites interested people and stakeholders to submit further written comments on the National Land Transport Amendment Bill [B 7 - 2016] as it pertains to proposed amendments that extend beyond the scope of the Bill.

The Bill was referred to the Committee on 15 April 2016. The Committee held public hearings and considered proposed amendments to the Bill. Whilst inquiring into the subject of the Bill and during public hearings the Committee realised it was necessary to amend other provisions of the principal

Act which were not included in the Bill, and therefore further extends the public consultations on the new clauses. The new amendments, which are not currently contained in the National Land Transport Amendment Bill [B 7-2016] amongst others, will cover the inclusion of clauses in the Bill which would allow for provincial legislation to establish a provincial transport authority.

Written comment is invited on the proposed amendments that are available on Parliament’s website www.parliament.gov.za

Enquiries, as well as written submissions, can be addressed to the Portfolio Committee on Transport, for the attention of Valerie Carelse, 3rd floor, W/S 3/79, 90 Plein Street, Cape Town, 8001, or e-mailed to vcarelse@parliament.gov.za. In addition to the written comments, please indicate your interest in making a verbal presentation to the Committee.

The closing date for written submissions is 17 November 2017.

Copies of the proposed amendments and the National Land Transport Act, 2009 (Act No 5 of 2009) can be obtained from Valerie Carelse on tel: 021-403 3272, cell 083 709 8445 or www.parliament.gov.za.
