Parliament, Thursday, 11 April 2024 – On behalf of Parliament, the Acting Speaker of the National Assembly, Mr Lechesa Tsenoli, and the Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces, Mr Amos Masondo, wishes all Muslims a blessed Eid-ul-Fitr.
The occasion of Eid marks the end of the month-long fasting, praying, and introspection period of Ramadan, during which Muslims devote themselves to family, charity, and reflection.
May all Muslims in South Africa have a blessed Eid and as they celebrate this joyous occasion, we ask that they keep South Africa in their thoughts and prayers, especially in anticipation of the upcoming 2024 provincial and national elections. May we continue to strive for a peaceful, prosperous, and democratic country.
