State of the Nation Address 2007

This publication, produced by the Parliamentary Research Unit, should be used as an adjunct to the State of the Nation Address.

Section One provides a strategic overview of the Address, highlights implications for key sectors, assesses the debates and outlines the political role of Parliament in taking forward the vision espoused in the State of the Nation Address.

Section Two provides a detailed analysis of the Address in relation to the different sectors, highlighting the impact for sectors and implications for Parliament, as well as noting the progress in delivery since the 2006 State of the Nation Address.

The President is not a member of Parliament. After an MP is elected as President, he or she loses the seat and the vacancy is filled by the next eligible person from the same party.
