A Bill becomes a law when it is signed by the President and promulgated (declared official) in the Government Gazette. It is now called an Act of Parliament.

It is given a date and number. For example, the Promotion of National Unity and Reconciliation Act is Act 34 of 1995. This means it was the 34th Act to be passed by Parliament in 1995.

The copy of an Act of Parliament signed by the President is the official version of that Act and is given to the Constitutional Court for safekeeping. More
